CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS: Family Labor/atory
Description
For our next event on the 12th of October 2024 at Recyclart, Sophia will explore how we can unpack, transcend, and re-imagine what family, care and community-making represent in our society.
How do we approach family, care, and community-making – concepts so deeply ingrained in our society that it’s difficult to question them? These familial and caring relations often become contradictory: while they can offer support and security, they can also be a source of violence and oppression. Acknowledging this duality forms the starting point for this thought exercise.
We are therefore happy to launch our open call for contributions, which is open until the 29th of May 2024. We are looking for submissions that reflect on the meaning of family, care and community-making from intersectional, imaginative and/or transformative perspectives.
We welcome activist, artistic, and/or academic contributions. Both creative and traditional (academic) contributions are welcome, and we encourage collectives and/or grassroots organisations to share their knowledge. We accept a variety of formats for the activities in this program: research presentations, work in progress, audiovisual arts, performances, workshops, exhibitions, reading groups, etc. We emphasise our particular interest in works that explore the intersectional dimensions of the topics we aim to explore. Your submission can be sent in English, French or Dutch.
